Medicine Cabinet
Lotion and scent samples collected over the years. I got the idea to put these out in the guest bath after visiting Laurel’s art studio in Playa Vista, where she did something similar for her guests with perfume and cologne samples on the counter in the studio’s bathroom. Glass tea-light holder I purchased on eBay for the dining area’s sideboard, but didn’t like the way it looked there. Wood bird called Luxembourg that I got when Jason and I visited Luxembourg, Luxembourg in [2013]. Diptyque lotion that Shane gave me from a hotel room at the Palihotel on N. Beverly Dr., because I told him I liked it very much. Bird I got as a souvenir when Marisa, Christa, and I went to Portugal [in September 2017]. Glass pumpkin from Flagstaff my parents gave Chris and me as a thank-you for watching Gracie when they went out-of-town in [fall 2022]. Hand lotions. Josephine figurines once owned by Grandma and Aunt Florence (Grandma’s is missing a fan.)
A Printers Drawer for the Bathroom
My paternal grandmother, who we called Grandma, kept a type case in her house. She called it a printers drawer and filled its tiny compartments with small objects she collected over the years.
I don’t have a printers drawer in my apartment, but I did have a medicine cabinet in the guest bath that was empty. I placed some of my favorite things in it as an homage to Grandma and to surprise curious visitors.
