Monday

This video of my nightstand features an alarm that Chris wrote for me. I asked him for it after I saw an alarm clock that costs around $500. Its main selling-point is customized alarm sounds, with new ones added on a regular basis. Instead of me spend the money, Chris wrote something for me.

I am a fan of Brian Eno and have made Chris listen to Ambient 1: Music for Airports on more than one occasion. “Monday” for me recalls certain aspects of that album, and I wonder if at some level Chris picked up on that during his writing process.

When he gave me the song, I thought it was beautiful. Now, I not only use it as my go-to alarm, but I’ll also find myself occasionally listening to it at random times as a musical piece in its own right.
